I need help building a business website. I type it in the search engine and find nothing. I am using dreamweaver to build the web site. Should I use a template to start off? What is the best template website to choose free templates? I also want to have a drop down menu and make it look professional? Are there any good tutorial websites out there that can assist with this? Please help.

The easiest way for a novice to build a web site is to start with a web template. Web Templates can be customized and you can use the layout but swap the graphics etc…. this will get you comfortable with basic HTML design and an HTML editor (like Dreamweaver).
Here are some resources for free or inexpensive templates that are easy to edit and manage.
Webmaster Templates – http://www.webmaster-templates.net
Free Web Templates – http://www.freewebtemplates.com/

HTML website templates can significantly ease the burden of designing and creating websites by providing webmasters with a ready-made web layout, structure, basic graphics, and color scheme.
The templates can generally be edited and customized with any HTML editor. The biggest advantage for webmasters using ready-made templates is the amount of time that can be saved.
Making a professional e-commerce is NOT an easy task and requires much more knowledge and experience than said above! CSS and Javascript will lead you absolutely nowhere, nor using Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver is useful to design static sites, but an e-commerce is what is called a Dynamic site: you will need server-side scripts (ie Php) and a database (ie mySQL). Dreamweaver is hopeless at working with server-side scripts and inadequate to work with databases.
You will also have to include a payment system (ie PayPal) for which the integration into your code is not as simple as it sounds.
You could try downloading e-commerce “templates” or systems like Ruby-on-rails and Miva. Neither is easy to use, they have serious limitations and, if you are not a good coder, very hard to adapt to your needs.
I design such applications, but my fee is a minimum of 4500€ for two months work… to give you an idea!
You need a web hosting service which supports online payments like, Master Card, Visa & PayPal. It is very important that your service be uptime. It means that you can access your account whenever you want to update your web pages, and your visitors can view your website whenever they type your website address. If your hosting service is not uptime it is real hell!
If you want to run a successful e-commerce you must choose a reliable web hosting service. The security of your business directly depends on the security of your hosting service. (Hacker safe)
Take a look at: http://www.threehosts.com/business
There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the E-commerce web hosting industry. They fulfill all your requirements to sell online. By using each of them, everything you need for your business website is provided in one eCommerce Hosting Package.
There are a number of answers to your question.
How to build a web site…design, layout, coding, or what you want it to do, or perhaps the most important, building a site that will get the click.
No matter how simple the site, if you do the last thing first, you will get a lot of traffic.
If you want a tutorial, you will have to dig through the site below. There are a number of aspects to consider.
Following these principles, my public speaking site has been in the top 100K on Alexa and is hovering in the top 3% of over 100 million sites.
Best wishes….
I have found through personal experience that even if you get it to look fairly good by starting with a templatethen it still won’t be completely customized to what you want. Even then you will get very little traffic from search engines because the search engine optimizations process mus tbe done from the very start.
I have had 3 websites made by : http://www.samwilson3d.com
The first one I tried to do by myself. It was very much worth the $475 per website that I paid. Other companies here locally wanted $700+
Also, once created you can update the site yourself through an “admin” area without any HTML creating new pages and/or products for purchase as you need to.
Either way you go, check out this side-by-side comparison of web hosting plans : http://hosting.mestore.com
If this is your first time building a website then you might consider using a template first. You can find plenty of free templates at TemplatesBox.com or you can purchase more professional ones at places like TemplateMonster.com or DreamTemplates.com.
